Salad Server

What kind of oil should be used on wood servers when they’re getting dry?
Don’t tell me Mineral Oil, because that oil is BAD to injest. Vegetable oils (including Olive Oil) can attract bacteria…? My choice would have been Olive Oil…but only if the board is washed often. Wood cutting boards have been proven to collect bacteria, so I use a lucite board…but, I have a decorative Monkey Pod Salad bowl from Hawaii, with matching individual bowls, and I use Olive Oil on these after swishing the left-over salad away (I never immerse them in water), but do put EVOO on the clean wood and wipe out excess until the next time. Is there a better way?
I know that my wife uses Linseed Oil and finds it great
