Help finding topic for term paper: 1960’s.?
So I have to write a twelve page research paper for my historical writing class on a topic concerning the 1960’s. I know a lot of stuff happened like the Kennedy presidency, foreign affairs, hippies…ect. But I’m trying to think of something that isn’t so obvious. Something that isn’t so popular but once you think about you realize how important it is. Like maybe the rise of tupperware or the change in advertising…? Any ideas are appreciated.
An obvious one would be the moon landing, in 1969, along with Woodstock and the Summer of Love.
Less obviously, in 1961 a series of experiments began to be constructed by psychologist Stanley Milgram which taught us a great deal about how we respond to authority (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram_test).
An interesting one is that in January 1964 Nike was founded (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nike,_Inc.). You could write something interesting about how it defined a whole generation, couldn’t you?!
